Thread: Yahoo article explaining recent pricing increases

The last time I took my stock matching numbers 1972 911S to the track I drifted through turn 1 at Pacific Raceways at 120mph. That was ten years ago. Even then I knew I should protect the car better and track my '72T with RS flares and 3.2L motor instead. Since then the S has been given a quality respray in its original color and tidied up. The 911T is still driven at DE events (now in ST form with a 3.6L). It's a blast and surprises many modern 911s. However... I just had both cars appraised and insured for what it would cost to replace them. And those numbers would give anyone who isn't very wealthy pause for thought. The new values are becoming a factor for most ordinary folks in how the cars are treated.

Yah I know. I was just pointing out that its really the only thing that bothers me. Its just a bit disappointing to see something I sweated for becoming something thats unattainable to other guys like me that now are just too late. Its almost like the wrong types of people are starting to own these things.

Randy, you've probably better articulated exactly what I was trying to get across. It's kinda like finding out your old daily wearer watch that your dad gave you, is all of a sudden a $20k timepiece - do you keep wearing it daily or preserve it for your kid?

I know. I grew a cool beard a couple of years ago, and now everyone has grown one and it's no longer cool. I was recently offered a lot of money for my blue 69T (enough to make me actually consider selling) by a guy that simply wanted a matching colour 'old Porch' to sit in the garage with his new Porch. It was the colour! Not anything else!

Talk to anyone who lived in Jackson Hole Wyoming 30 years ago, first the millionaires bought out the normal folks- then the billionaires bought out the millionaires. No one is going to put a gun to your head and make you sell them your 911. If you decide you rather have the money than the car -that's your call. If it's a decent sized pile of money all the better, hard to see anything to complain about. I own a Porsche I won't race anymore because of the value, I just bought cheaper Porsche's to race, .

maaaaan I've head a beard for like 9 years. I'll have one then, now, and after the fad dies..... just like my 911.

I just had mine out at the PCA club race here in minnesota. 2 people asked me if it was for sale.

All I can say is when skinny jeans and long sleeve blouses outnumber 501's, shorts, and T-shirts at Porsche events, I'm out.

I'll get off the grid at that point.
