I have info on 3 steering wheels that are original including covering that I documented carefully. 1. 914 347 806 10, 74mm grip circumference, original to my 914/6 in mid 70's. 2. 914 347 805 11, 86mm grip, new in box with 72--> VW hub. 3. 914 347 086 10, 91mm grip. This wheel I called a RSR wheel, it has a very soft thick grip and the covering was very smooth and glossy. Gled

One of the keys to determine whether a wheel has a hub that is compatable with a 911 column is the last 2 digits of the stamped number on the hub. If it ends with 11 is is 914/4, if it ends with 10 it uses a 911 hub no matter what it came from.

    Regards

    Jim
PS: Never knew a 916 used a 914/4 column, very interesting.

Don't know about 916 but 72 914/6 did use VW column. Can someone confirm the number of 6's built in 72, I don't think it was very many. I will try to find info later. Gled

The 914 347 086 10 wheel with the fat grip is a completely different number sequence from what we have been talking about. What is its story?

The two lists don't have the same numbers. Who is one supposed to believe?
72 914/6s must have been made. After all, it says so on the internet.

72 914-6s were not officially sold in the US. many seem to have received 2.4 motors.
