    Price check for engine

    Hi all
Im trying to get an indication of what I would expect to pay for a core engine from '66 or '67. Any ideas?
    Cheers

Our shop recently picked up a complete core motor and trans from a 67, along with a 912 tranny for $4500. Transmissions turn with some work, motor does not turn over, carb linkage rusted etc.

I thought it was a good deal. Hope this helps.

Interesting that the prices of engines have remained relatively stable while the cars have gone through the roof.

This may be a smoking deal. Often the aluminum engine case is that much alone. The trans could be 500 to 1000 by itself. However, there are asking prices, and sold-for prices.

Thanks I thought it was a good deal... happened to find it on Ebay just minutes after it was posted... Turned out the guy lives about 30 minutes from me so I got some cash and made the deal! Looks like the guy accidentally relisted it @ $3500 and ended the auction, he's got a 74 engine too... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Porsche...p2047675.l2557

Turns out this gentleman has been trying to sell a pretty nice '65 ex-racer for $350K and has a Paul Neuman '74 race car he's trying to sell for $750K, might ring some bells... nice guy though, good to deal with.
