Hi Tom, great pics! Where did you find them?? Is this the old showroom as it looks today with a 911 on display or an older picture??

    Perfect!
This makes sense, I think. The engine came with a few modifications. It had a 2,4S distributor (machined to fit the case) and throttle bodies modified with vacum. I believe this should give slightly better emissions. If this is what the sticker is referring to, this means it was not placed there when the car was new. Can you see any dates on it? Will send you some pictures of the modifications.

    Thanks, Radmund

When I first got my Roadster, ~1988, I went to a mechanic/shop that I'd seen as I drove up North --- forget the name . . . located on Parkway Calabasas and The 101. (Auto Gallery is at that location, now --- after another shop purchased the property ~2000?)

Anyway, I was talking with the proprietor --- about what happened w/ the 'old cars' . . . and he told me a story

Said that he used to have a ton of customers w/ old cars in the area that used to come in for work. And over time, well . . . they just kinda slowly disappeared. Never knew why --- + never gave it much thought . . .

    . . . 'till One Day . . .

    This Japanese Guy --- + we're talking 'right off the boat' + could barely speak English, etc . . . comes in --- asks about '67 911 'S's. Mechanic says . . . 'yeah, I used to have etc-etc" (see above) . . . and . . .

. . .'Why do you ask?'

Turns out that the Japanese Guy came all the way over from Tokyo --- just to see this particular Shop (!)

    'How did you find me?'

Japanese Guy said that he belonged to the '67 911 S Club, in Tokyo, that a lot of members of that club had gotten their cars from SoCal . . .

. . . and that he had found the Mechanic/Shop --- from the oil change stickers on the car door of the other members' cars

    !

Guess that's where the Mechanic's 'old car' business went

Anybody ever heard of such a Club?

My father's former 1967 911S Softie ended up in Japan. It was white when he sold it, then the new owner painted it resale red, then it went overseas.

The car had five 7R wheels (four on the car and a spare in the trunk), a Webasto, sport seats, and a carbureted 2.2S engine with close ratio gears.

I wonder if anyone here knows where that car is now. It went overseas in the early/mid-80s.

Yes, sounds very interesting and probably true. If not, itīs at least a cool story :-)

Letīs hope one of the members will google their "Tokyo 67 911S" club and find this thread!

Maybe they also accept 68Sīs in their club now? This one sounds healthy!

Could you provide a VIN for this car Marco? It would make it easier to find it. PM sent.

There was a story about japanese registry members/early 911 owners, maybe they know more and/or can help.
Note one holds a "Narrow 911" banner.

My 72E came from Japan. It originally had the same rear seat bases as posted in an earlier thread. However, my E is RHD (which is unusual for Japan). I bought it in 2006 in Sapporo Hokkaido.

In the 6 years I was in Tokyo, it was only the 2nd RHD early car I saw (and the only one I saw for sale). I visited M-House shortly after having my car delivered from Sapporo to Tokyo. Not sure if he is still around.

I also used the Porsche garage in Roppongi to service my 964 I had while I was there - Name then was Mizwa.

I have tried to track down the early history on my E but it has proved tricky. Here it is now - the plate is appropriate for its history!
