Perfect Karim, we should collect all available info here. More for the records:
Japan codes:
Country code: JF
Länderausstattung (country equipment): C04, later C08
Händler nr. (distributor/dealer code) Mitsuwa Motors: 922
Great info from HughH originally discussed here: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...-country-codes
According to the information in the RS book C04 was country equipment for Japan. However so was C08. From the other information I think C04 was for 1972 calendar year, and possibly earlier, and C08 was for 1973 and possibly later.
In looking at different country codes compared to delivery information there are a number of things that are apparent. For individual countries (apart from the Japan example) the code did change through the RS run for some but not all countries and it appears to have changed on a calendar year production basis. This would be consistent with changes in regulations in those countries at the time. Also some countries shared country codes, such as England and Hong Kong. Also there were some German delivered cars with different country codes and i assume that was because they had been ordered either via the factory or by the German dealer specifically to comply with a certain country so that they could be taken there.
Here is a table i constructed from information in the RS book:

Hi Radmund , thanks for pointing me to this thread. I hope to be visiting Japan in the new year and will be making contact with some of the early 911 people again - as per my Esses article 'Narrow Style Revisited'.
I no longer have a '69 E/S , a 356C has taken it's place , but may be getting into a 904 which does have some early 911 content !
Glad to have you aboard John and looking forward to hearing about your next adventure in Japan!
I remember seeing some cool track pics of your old 69E/S. Enjoy your new 356, and if you also have the chance to spend some time in a 904, that sound fun!

Here is a pic of mine with the previous Japanese registration plate. '72 2.4E. Original colour light ivory.
Does it look familiar to anyone?
Thanks

'72 911E 2.4 Coupe RHD - Blue
Exceptional looking car Derek!
Hi Derek,
The car looks great also in white :-)
Hopefully we will be able to find some info based on the plate.
Please consider also posting your VIN and specs from Porsche. One of the mysteries we have to solve is why a RHD car was delivered new to Hahn, Fellbach in Germany? This makes little sense.
Could you ask Porsche to provide a country code for your car? It would be nice to know for sure that it went directly to Japan and was not originally intended for another RHD marked.
Attaching the picture you sent me of the sticker your car used to have on the rear window. Maybe one of our Japanese friends will recognize it??
Cheers, Radmund

Hi Derek,
I can't read the sticker on the rear window. It begins with G? Can you read it?
