73 S - engine install and start up

After 15 months of ownership and much work, it was a milestone day last Monday when Eric Wills (Wills Werks, Fairfax, VA ) made a house call to my garage to serve as the engine install and start up 'midwife' for my 73 S. Eric also rebuilt the car's transmission. I am most happy to report that all went extremely well with an instant start and run in for 20 minutes before performing the first 'oil change' in about 20 years of inactivity...but now with a freshly rebuilt engine done by Chuck Allard of Maryland. Both fellows have been an immense help to me as have many of you in the Registry answering my many questions that at times seem endless (and they will continue!). I also want to recognize Ed Mayo for fielding my many questions on the phone and emails. I have done many car projects over the decades, but the 73 S has been far and away the most enjoyable. I tell people that the 15 months of work so far will essentially be invisible from a walk around the car...lots of time (and money) on the underside, suspension, engine, trans, etc. with everything redone or replaced as new. Thank you again to everyone who has helped me get this far.

Richard - how could I forget special mention to you for the loan (and now purchase) of the ATV jack and your custom wooden cradle. They were the perfect accompaniment to my lift and made the process very smooth. Thanks!

Steve, glad it worked out. I'm looking forward to seeing it on the road. The wooden cradle was someone else's idea that was posted here, I just copied it.

Looks great. Just started a little project on my own 73S Gemini Blue Metallic.
Car should be back on road by February.
