My panelbeater modified this panel without cutting and adding material to original spec and I worked on these kneepads a few times, difficult edge but actually no big deal. Porsche would never let a car leave the factory with such a kneepad, so this would be a no go for me at $400K+ because it is quite easy to do it right. $400K+ speaks for the crazyness of the current market. But nevertheless this is an awesome car and congratulations for the excellent work.
Curious how your panel beater filled the holes to the metal strip without adding material. Any pictures before and after?

I just bought a '66 S with 38900 original km's on it, standing still for over 25 years...
Right here in Belgium. Unbelievable nice original car with all the correct trim and details, but unfortunately repainted in dark green (not irish green)
Prices are high indeed and I didn't buy it cheap, but it is an early S and after the restoration of another '67 S I now know what I have to look at...

Restoration project will be posted here.

    Cheers,
    Michael

    Michael-
You stated a "66 S" and I'm wondering how the early S years work out. Did Porsche release the S in '66 as a '66 model? Quite a few of my '67's had '66 production dates, where is the cut off? Story? Thanks for entertaining this question in advance.

66S is a mis-quote often applied. They are all 67S's but production began (as in other years) in August the preceding year. In this case August 66 but they are not 66MY cars.
