    FS: 1970 911S Targa

    1970 911S Targa

Burgundy with black leatherette standard seats.

Very, very original, bone stock, and in present ownership since 1989.

Matching numbers engine built by Franz Blam, with receipts.

Was stored for 14 years (in a dehumidified garage, and after fogging the engine and stabilizing the fuel), but now runs and drives.

    Paint believed to be original.

Seat covers, dash, door panels in good condition with some patina but not requiring replacement. Flip out door pockets and carpets are completely shot and must be replaced. Driver's seat sagging and needs new springs. Dash is not cracked. Rear vinyl side panels are coming unglued, and glovebox door cover is missing. Gear knob is cracked. But interior restoration will be easy and relatively inexpensive, with correct wool carpets and flip out door pockets being the main expenses.

Car is accident free except for a ruined door, which was replaced. The replacement door has not yet been painted.

Car was stored its entire life in garages, and is practically rust free, with the only rust being a few flecks of surface rust where there have been paint chips, and superficial spots rust in battery boxes and spare tire well. Battery boxes and tire well are sound and can be cleaned up.

All glass is perfect as far as I can tell with no chips or scratches.

All five wheels -- 6 x 15 Fuchs -- are original to the car and were restored by Robert Wood in the 1990's and are in very good condition.

Targa roof has slight fraying at the folds but need not be replaced if "patina" is desired. Headliner needs reglueing or replacing.

Car is absolutely original and complete except for driver's mirror and glovebox door vinyl cover. Original manual, original service book, original toolkit, jack, and two original keys are included.

Car will be sold with mechanics properly sorted. The car runs well and drives, but needs CV joints, needs professional cleaning of the fuel tank (as do all cars of this age), needs brake fluid changed and brakes gone through, and needs a second gear synchronizer. I will have all this done and the cost is included in whatever price is agreed.

I do not have a good idea about what this car is worth and will entertain offers. The high degree of originality and completeness, good provenance, sound body and mechanics might be worth a lot to someone, but it is impossible to say for sure how much. I am required by forum rules to name a price, so that is "$150k or best offer", but I will entertain all offers.

Ask any and all questions by PM, or call me on 615 557 2100. The car is in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Thanks.
