A few years back a Ferrari owner expressed the opinion that he just couldn't understand how people could drive and collect MGs.

"One shunt and the car is totaled." My Ferrari has an insured value of 2 million. I simply cannot total the car. Why would anyone collect and drive a car that can be easily totaled?"

Because it's insured under agreed value and I could then go get me a non-shunted car instead of having them repair mine.. I could see it both ways, as long as you keep up with valuation on your insurance ;-) Then again, different worlds, I'm no Classic Ferrari owner,: or 2 Mil I'd have a warehouse full or old air-cooled porsches instead, drive a different one each day of the month!

To quote another Ferrari guy, " Not driving your car to protect it's value is like not having sex with your girlfriend to save her for the next guy." Seems like a fun crowd, does Ferrari build anything more German?

There are salvage titled Ferraris all over the market place. One small fender bender and they are considered a total. As an example, a hood for a 550 Maranello is 8K. Insurance companies don't want to deal with high end repa1rs and the possible repercussions of a sub par repair.

Given the mileage on most Ferraris, it seems a lot of their owners aren't getting laid.
