Doug - that car looks outstanding.
Does it have a brown interior? -- Can you post photos if it does?

I'm starting to dig this color more and more based on what I've seen here

    Thanks

Interested in your thoughts on 6410 Dolphin Grey, a few parts still show the color in my car and looks like Primer tone.

We recently sold a 73 Targa that was originally gold metallic. Several overseas buyers were very excited about the color, I think it probably bumped the price up a little.

My dad had a 71 or 72 metallic gold T Sportomatic with chrome wheels. I'm not a gold fan but that car looked fantastic. Porsche had a problem with their metallic's back then. Something with the clear coat. He had it repainted twice by Bill Carter in So. Cal. Bill eventually became a friend of mine about 10 years ago and I spoke to him about my dad's car. He still remembered it.

That's one of the challenges in forming an opinion on the Porsche metallics from the '71-73 era. The clear coat failed (or turned yellow) within a few years. Some were even repainted at the dealerships before being sold. I've seen one metallic gold and two metallic silver early 911s with mostly original paint that still looked good. They were super low miles and had always been garaged. I've never seen an original paint early 911 in the metallic blues, red or green that wasn't crazing or flaking.

Unfortunately, repaints in those metallics are all over the place. Glasurit from the correct formula applied under ideal circumstances is the best bet, but the flake has to be very fine to match the original color. In the right light, metallic gold can be stunning. Parked under artificial lighting at dusk.. well, perhaps not.

    Thumbs up

    Great response Randy.........

At one time Randy, Eric L., and me had our three 'blue metallic' cars parked next to each other... and we were most assuredly looking at three slightly different colors........

I love gold, but for some reason it seems to go better on some cars, than on others. I love the "golden ticket" one, but there was a gold one for sale in Germany last year and the paint looked so dull and tired... Was really disappointing.
Maybe you need to live in a sunny state to enjoy gold.

Worst colors are for me silver and white, and red. Polo Red is ok, but looks like a very difficult color to get it right. Don 't like the guards red and resale reds... Shame mine's a red one. But all matching, so the respray will be Polo red again.

I'd agree, though I like 6603 Golfblau as well as Oslo Blue.
