    Knock-out

    IMO? -------- abso-d@mn-lutely!

I have never seen this color in the metal --- only in pics. Most people --- even Porsche People . . . prolly don't even know that that color even existed --- see post #445 . . .

    . . . and yes --- I think that you'd have a very/special rare car . . . especially w/ the pale interior . . . but not just because of the colors

'Cause after its all done? . . .

    . . . I'd get a hold of Johnny Rivers . . . . . . . . ask him what he thinks?

(Have you ever tried to contact him? --- ask about photos or remembrances or anything? 'Cause your car's a knock-out, if you ask me . . .)

Metallic Gold is a fantastic color if the correct paint is used and maintained.

I've noticed Toyota recently has added some vintage Porsche colors to its palette from Beige Gray to Signal Yellow to Gemini Blue. One of the Asian car companies also has a very close match to Porsche Metallic Gold.

Wondering if gold metallic gives others the impression of large metal flakes in the paint ? Why that is, I'm not sure.

Orangey--gold is also a flashy color.

Dave, since you've swerved slightly off topic into silver, I'll jump in and continue on that path. Actually, the German national color was always white. The preference for silver came about in the 30s when the Mercedes and Auto Union cars were run in unpainted aluminum. It has sort of evolved into being thought of as the national color, but the bodies in white as run on most of the factory BMW and Porsche race cars is probably a more correct national color.

Back on topic: I enjoy seeing the gold cars, but not sure I would want to see one every day .....

I have a 1974 Color Chart Brochure where they actually covered up the Gold Metallic 914 and replaced it with a "cut out" Delphi Green Metallic 914 silhouette swatch!

Delphi green metallic. The color of my very first Porsche. Bought that '73 914 at 17, when I was a junior in high school. Actually kind of miss it, although at the time, it was probably considered the worst color on earth. Kind of odd they would have to put a cutout of delphi in the '74 brochure since it was available in '73 as well. Strange.

Should I be offended by all the vitriol concerning Sepia Brown, or should I cave in to peer pressure and paint it Silver?

If you asked me some years ago I'd have said gold is horrible, nowadays I like it.
Some english guy (don't remember his name) in a british tv show called the color of his maybach jewish racing gold in opposition to british racing green. Made me laugh - since then all golden cars are jewish racing gold to me.
    Cheers
