It's one thing to keep a car account for organization; its' quite another to hide expenses from the Mrs.

Be a man. Otherwise you'll end up like the male Angler Fish. Or a shrimp.

I had to say goodbye to a Lotus Elan S2 to get my 69E. It was the perfect Elan: Knock offs, CV joints, early tail lights and dash switches, no window hoops, engine rebuilt to Big Valve specs and an Alfa Romeo 105 5-speed gearbox. My driving force was two small boys who come with me to vintage racing and events, and a daughter to likes to come along on local drives, and not enough seating in the Lotus. Fortunately I got an extremely strong price for the Lotus and found my 911 project at an affordable price part way up the price escallation so I was able to make the transition price neutral

And if your wife is not interested in old cars in the least make sure she has a hobby that rivals or exceeds the costs of owning and operating old cars. IMHO, there is one hobby that is clearly superior for sucking any checking account dry, which is mainly a female biased activity. Can you guys guess what that would be? A hint would be that this is even worse than a 'shopping' habit.

Of course you do run the significant risk with both of these money pit hobbies, that your mortgage payment maybe be missed from time to time.

My wife thinks old cars smell bad! There is no convincing her unfortunately. Maybe the hobby that costs more than cars is children, LOL.

Your close (hood badge symbol), but Ed has it nailed. The overhead is never ending even if the horse is put out to pasture, because there will always be at least one more.

    Hummm....

At least, horses can reproduce. The cars.... Not by themselves.

Strange that this thread hasnt desapeared yet "down under" the darkeness of the off topic abyss.

Frank? I think that another border line youtube link would help a lot! :-)
