We met Åke Andersson today and got some photos signed. Then I asked about the Safari Rally in 1971 and he told me it was three green Porsches. The third green Porsche was his practice car. Damaged during training. See in the picture where the car is located on the side. He told me that Waldegårds practice was red, it may explain that there were six Porsches with the Safari Rally?

Got some more information by Åke Andersson regarding Safar Rally 1971. First Waldegård did not have a red Porsche 911. When they came down to the rally, there were only one practice car there and it was a green 911. And it became Ake Andersson who got it. Waldegård had to take a VW to practice car. A few days later, he received a white 911 to practice car. Åke Andersson told us that there were problems with the nuts came loose at the shock absorbers at the rear.

i think we may be back to 5 cars. 3 green and 2 white if you read Thomas's last (correcting) post
the photos I posted in post 15 show 2 VW's but I don't think the combi would have been used. They may have used the wagon though (shown in 2 of the pics)

When I took these photos, I always wondered why Bruno's 911 had 'Safari' rather than 'Carrera' for the side script. Didn't make any sense at the time. But I'm pretty sure this is the safari car that Buffum had and then he sold it to Bruno Kreibich. In the following years, Bruno would buy Buffum's old quattros as well.
