    "AT" 911/01 Transmission ID

Curious as to what the "AT" stands for on my 911/01 transmission. Can't seem to find anything on it, I'm positive it's factory stamping. Case number is 7104090. Car it came out of was apparently raced in Germany, it's not a limited slip though so seems odd to me. Any thoughts?

I understand that AT means a factory replacement either for an engine, or in this case, a gearbox. AT means Austausch (=Exchange). The original serial number is kept (re-stamped) but AT is added. I presume it means the case was broken and the new case was restamped with the same numbers and AT added. There was another designation "KD" used earlier for the same process but it has been reported on this board that the changeover in designation happened in about 1970.
