+1. Erik knows the deal (as usual).

There's another post here somewhere with photos showing the exact differences year by year. I'll see if I can find it.

Different than the ones on my '72. Here are a couple of closeups of mine. It is a molded piece. I should also add though that I do have a piece with the vinyl overlay and I took it off a '73, although the car wasn't completely original. Now I too know the difference of the two. These pics though are of my known original '72. Parked since '86, 103K original miles. And it still has a small crack near the lock button!!!!Name: 20141230_230200.jpg

    Hi Erik,

I have a 73MY E and as you say definitely molded however my 72MY T (built Nov71) has vinyl wrapped cappings on a metal frame - I thought this altered for 73MY cars, did the change occur sometime during 72 production?

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
Interesting, so your's is a Nov. '71 build with wrapped doortops, and mine is a Jan. of '72 build with molded doortops. Is it possible that the change happened between Nov. of '71 and Jan. of '72?
