I think early 68 was the last year they made the split engine lid. The 1970S had an aluminum lid to save weight I think, but wasn't a split lid.
I don't know if the 67R was aluminum, but now we're into big dollars.
Thanks for sharing the build.

My wife and I finally got the passenger side quarter sanded all the way down and primed. It was a pain!! The primer had to be half an inch thick and we had to sand through some bondo and we found a not-so-nice surprise.. Not the best pics as they are from my phone and the primer is still a little wet an shiny, but here ya go!

What are you going to do with trim bits like the metal and rubber deco trim on the rear bumper? Save or replace?

Hey Seb:
I just plowed through this thread...awesome stuff! I am right down the road from you in central VA, and I just bought my first long hood last week...72T on carbs (ROW car, didn't get MFI), Gemini blue w/ houndstooth comfort seats. Not quite as needy as yours, but on some level all of these cars are needy (or at least spendy) right? Perhaps we can meet up at a show or PCA event when yours gets roadworthy...I'd love to see it.
BTW, before you get too bummed out about it not being a 'special order car', I have two points to make: 1. Irish Green is absolutely a classic, so for having bought your car w/out knowing the original color, I'd say you scored, and 2. even if your sport seats weren't ordered with the car, they look to my amateur eyes to be legitimate OEM, and thus worth a small fortune even in rough shape (in fact maybe 20%+ of your entire purchase price). Beginner's luck indeed! If it were me, I'd be tempted to restore/reupholster these in beige leather...maybe it doesn't completely match the COA but the Irish Green/beige leather sport seats combo will be an absolute stunner combo, IMHO, so who cares?
For inspiration, somewhere on here or Pelican there is a picture of just the most immaculate LWB 911S in that combo, original paint, your seats, through the grill fogs, 7inch RS Fuchs...you could do worse than to replicate the look of that car.
