Thread: Affordable yellow fog lights ?

    Affordable yellow fog lights ?

Can you install Hella 128s in a LWB car ?

I am looking for some yellow lens fog lights for my wife's car (69 912). Entirely cosmetic, probably not even wired initially...
I want to replace those yellow driving lights with bumper ones (used to give the slate car a touch of color, but they are a bit too big and heavy for my tastes - not to mention they're always drooping and sooner or later they'll rip the grill out)

To be clear, this ^ is what I currently have and will remove, in favor of bumper lights if possible.

I see repro Hella (128?) in yellow 60-68 for $400 a set. But for a 69 with a different mounting system apparently (back of the light instead of top from what I see), $400+ each for 139s and that's not even yellow (presumably another $50+ each for a lens)... Is there a cheaper alternative, or mounting idea that would make this more affordable ? I've never held a 128 so I have no idea if the mount of them pivots enough or not... Can I install 128s in a 1969 if I redrill the bumper bracket? (it's already a bastardized bumper so don't cringe)

Greg, where did you see those $400 repro Hellas? I saw them somewhere but couldn't find them again.

[edit: oops, never mind. I'm looking for 139s as well.]

I ran into the vrew from Sierra Madre Collection at Luftgekühlt II. It turns out Hella 139s are available http://www.sierramadrecollection.com...73-p18274.html but I'll leave affordability up to you.

Yeah, SMC has a KIT of yellow 128s (and a 10% promo code) that brings this to $400 delivered.
139s are $400 or so each + 2x$50 lenses I think so $1000 or so ! I'm gonna find a way to make them fit. No harm will be done to a stock bumper, as my bumper is already not stock and I might use some home made brackets... Truthfully, I'm not just cheap (that's a big part) but I prefer the rounder shape of the 128s and this car is a mishmash of 67/69 parts to begin with !
