    70 E trunk color

I understand the undercoat area and all but I am told the entire area in luggage/ fuel tank area is satin black, under coat area and non under coat area.
Only two rear choices here black or the color of the car, what say you concours guys

70 was the first year for body color overspray in the trunk area over the undercoat. The engine bay had body color overspray on the undercoat, then was finished in satin black over that. Rub off the black and you'll find body color overspray. LOTS of threads on this!

So trunk/fuel is body color and engine bay is black
Seems odd but that is how we will go forward

yes, as Edmayo said but the body overspray in the trunk was just one coat sprayed, so kind of "transparent" body color and its very mat (no shine) you can almost see the metal. Engine bay is black but as Edmayo said, there is body color underneath. My car is like that.

BTW, wheel areas are black as undercoating below the doors/trim.
Do a search for details on unrestored cars as that area is often wrongly done.

Please also keep in mind 1970 Karmann bodied cars had noticeably more black paint applied in the front trunk area than factory bodied cars
