    tires/wheels on a 68 & a 69 ???? help please
    tires/wheels on a 68 & 69 ???? HELP PLEASE

I have four (4) deep 6 hearts and four (4) 7Rs, freshly refinished from Harvey.
I have two cars that I wish to use these on, a 68 and a 69.

    I have a 68 narrow body swb longhood - stock body - with a carb'ed 3.0L.
    I have a 69 narrow body lwb longhood - stock body - with a carb'ed 3.0L.

These are sleeper cars - look stock outside, bigger motor.

Both cars will have a lowered stance.

These are warm weather (50 to 90 degrees) sunny day cars that hopefully will not drive in the rain, but need to allow for the possibility from time to time.

Need some help from the e911s crowd:
    * Will the 7R's fit in the stock rear fenders?
    * Will they need spacers (what size)?
    * What tires (front and rear) should I run on these wheels on these cars?

    Thanks for the help,
    Clarke

I would agree with Eric. His set up is at the max and not for the faint hearted.
I recommend on the SWB...205/60 with 7R on the rear and 12-15 mm spacers and 185/65 with 6 on the front. (See Bridgers car)
On the LWB...215/60 or 225/50 with 7R on the rear and 12-15 mm spacers and 185/70 (or 195/65, 205/60) or 205/50 (or 205/55) on the front.
Even some of the 215/60s can be close so trial fit everything.
Race car sizing is different so be aware of their recommendations.......

Thanks E and Harvey. How about tire brand/model/type, please?

I am currently considering for my lwb with 7Rs and deep 6s the p6000 pirellis . They now make 185 70s AND 195/65s as well as the 215/60, any opinions on these?

Clarke- My 68 swb with deep 6s sees the same warm weather use as your cars. Not exactly period correct, but I'm running Yokohama Ao48 (205/60)- a lot of tire for my 912, I know, but with the sticky tires and low power the car is nearly imperturbable! :-) On your swb cars with 3.0 power and weight, that extra stick might come in handy.

    Thanks

Using Good Year Eagles on my deep 6 Fuchs on a 69: 195/70/15, I can't find 185's but they clear the well and work like a champ. Grippy.

On a lwb car with deep sixes (F) & 7R's (R) my preferred make/size of tyre is:

    Deep sixes + 185/70 VR-rated Avon CR6ZZ

    7R's + 215/60 VR-rated Avon CR6ZZ + 15mm bolt-on spacers (we call them wheel adapters over here)

Searched the web cannot find those Avon's listed by Andy in above post.

Any reason this combo wouldn't work?
