I had a very original 67S that was delivered in Dec 66, owner changed almost nothing. Had these caps on it.
The early version is on the right.

I sold a set of 4 of the early larger, more flat PORSCHE font at the LA Swap...nobody knew there was ever a difference. I didn't save a pic, but the difference is noticeable when placed side by side.

That is one of the differences I was always hesitant to bring up.
I always thought the big font was the early caps too but there are more period photos of caps with the small font on early cars...
And the prototype cap has the small font.
The only big font cap in a period photo that I have found was of a 70 or 71 car.....
That seems to be where to majority of big font caps are from.
My first experience was in 1973 when I ordered all of the caps the distributer had in inventory and they finally went to the bottom of the drawer and a few showed up.
I was told they were from a alternate supplier when Porsche was running low. The best evidence I have been able to find shows that they are from the 70 or 71 years.
So many caps were replaced during servicing that it was very unusual that a car came in that didn't need caps replaced.....
Yours were probably replaced at some point as the very early caps were notorious for the clips coming off when the car was serviced....
Or in your case the 4.5X15 were notorious for falling on their face when taken off of the car...
Also the up close photo of the 911R horn button had the small font...
BTW, the caps are finished completely differently than the small font ones are. They have a brushed finish before anodizing....

I scrounged a set of these from several 3 prong caps I had. So, it would pay to have a look at the ones you might have laying around!!...cliff

67 911 de Luxe, 356 B silver metallic / brown interior, ( buck skin really ) 67 PORSCHE [ built ] 912, Crystal blue, black interior, 72 T, Silver metallic/black interior, appearance group,factory AC.
I've seen several versions of the Fuchs center cap pieces. Can anyone tell me what version my 6J x15 Fuchs dated 12/1976 would have come with? I currently have the silver center caps with the two holes in them.
Thanks
