WTT: LHD H4 euro headlamps swap for RHD?

    Hi,
it's a long shot, but I'm looking to replace my LHD H4 headlamps, which are in virtually brand new condition with RHD ones (I am in the UK).
Does anyone have a set of RHD units sitting on the shelf from a UK\Aus import car?

I actually have 3 units, accidentally bought another LHD one which is brand new boxed but has a black rim (for painting) instead of chrome.

    cheers
    Tim

As far as I can tell there is no difference other than the lenses, just change them to rhd.

The lenses are the only difference and they are easy to replace on H4's. I have a new set and would be interested to discuss some kind of partial trade for your orphan H4. I'll go ahead and PM you.

    Cheers,

    Thanks for your replies.
I can buy RHD lenses quite easily, but as I understand it the reflectors need rotating so the H4 bulb angle is correct for the RHD lens. I can see it's the same part and the mounting rubbers can be moved into the new position. BUT, there is a little bracket for the top adjustment screw which I don't know how to move into the new position.
I'm guessing on a RHD reflector this little bracket is in the right place.
Or am I completely missing something?

    Thanks
    Tim

I have never heard of changing the reflectors for RHD vs. LHD drive. I've always been under the impression that that was handled by the optics in the lenses. Where did you get that information? I'm always open to learning something new.

Tim is correct. You can't just change the lenses.

    Mike...

It would be great to have some detailed information. The reason this puzzles me is that H4 reflectors are round and symmetrical - just can't why they need to be adjusted. It might make sense with H1's, at least with the high beam reflector, as it's tilted and asymmetrical.

Have you found any information printed or online?

    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John,
when I get my hands on a RHD headlamp I'll take some pictures of both and post them up.
You are right, the reflector is round, it is just mounted at a different angle in the housing so the bulb angle is one way for RHD and the other for LHD.
