SWB fog, emergency flasher, heater switch indicator colors

Open question for anyone who has a solution.

Have tried several options for the red, green tinting on the clear plastic columns in the switches??

It looks like the manufacturers used some kind of semi-transparent paint. I have tried some red and green candy tint enamel without success.

What have people used successfully to get the color to display properly with the switch turned on?

    I used food coloring.

I had to replace 2 of the clear plastic 'capillaries', so I got some clear rod from TAP plastics, and dipped the ends in food coloring dye for about 24 hours. Pretty damn close.

Interesting....did the plastic absorb the coloring or was it just coated.....would have thought it would wash out with the light and be too pale.

I have the original pieces of clear plastic, and it was some kind of translucent paint/coating just on the tip closest to the bulb. It came off in simple cleaning. So here we go!

    I'll give it a try.

I used a couple of coats of nail polish.......came out well, and has stayed that way for two years.

The green for the fogs was hard to find, but when you consider your trying to match to a faded color, it gives you a bit of color range.
