    Rechrome switch stalk

Searched the site but can't find anything appropriate. Picked up a couple of working switched from a '67 that are in good working order. However the handle stalks need to be re-chromed. I cant tell if the pivot point is apin that has to be pushed out or is this a rivit that needs to be drilled out

Assuming somebody can tell me the proper procedure for removing that pivot the next question seems to be how to get the handle off. Can't tell if it merely held there by compression or some type of glue was applied. Sierra Madre has replacement handles but I worry that if this is removed by crushing/breaking, that upon re-chroming the diameter of the hand stalk will be too large to accomodate the diameter of the hole in the handle. Don't know if I have been clear enough, but hopefully someone who has done this in the past will perceive the problem

Thanks in advance for any help

Fantastic. Many thanks. To the moderator: Tried the words "wiper", "stalk", rechrome" and search did not seem to come up with this thread. Am I missing something? See comments all the time like "search is your friend" in response to inquiries of others. Why didn't my words reveal this?

Just a thought for breaking the glue.
Sometimes, a couple of hours in the freezer achieves the same result. Worth trying in order to avoid playing with a heat gun on the old plastic...
