    Windshield wiper won't turn off

If I use the wiper for a couple seconds it turns off. If I run it more than a couple minutes it won't turn off. In fact in the off position it runs faster than the fast position. The only way I can get it to stop is pull the fuse. I then reinsert it shortly a few times tell I hit the right cut off spot then leave the fuse in. The next time I use the wiper I start the whole process over again.
Here are a few pictures of the wiring. I tried going around the noise suppressor. Same thing.

1967 912. That part of the harness should be the same as a SWB 911 I would think.

Last year I had a similar problem on a 1967 Porsche 911 normal. The wiper assembly ground wire was disconnected when I received the car. When I connected the ground wire the wipers went nuts. In my situation all of the wiring to the wiper assembly had apparently been disconnected to access the dash panel instruments and then reconnected improperly before I received the car. I disconnected the wiring again, and after studying the wiring diagram, I was able to reconnect the wiper assembly wiring properly and the problem was solved.

In your situation has any of the wiring been disconnected and reconnected relatively recently?

This is the way the wires were connected since I bought the car. It's always had this issue. I'm just now addressing it. Do my wires look connected the same as yours. I'm fairly certain this part of the harness is the same as yours other than the noise suppressor. I can take it off as I don't listen to the radio anyways.

Had the same issue and it was mechanical. I reinstalled the lever arm on the wiper gearmotor shaft at the wrong position. The lever arm was advanced from where it should have been so when the wipers reached their "parked" position the gearmotor shaft was rotated to the point that the contacts closed for starting the cycle over. The inertia of the still-moving wipers drove the gearmotor.

Possibly a wiring hookup also. See this posting with comments from Ed Mayo regarding electrical resolution:

Thanks for the help. I'll stay out of the rain and use one hand for each car.

Chris, I had the same issue with my '66. It was as Paul described above. Once I got the wiper lever arm oriented properly problem solved.

I looked at 2 other cars. It appears to be wired properly. The wiper arms are disconnected at the motor, and the issue still persists. Why the off position is the fastest escapes me. It sweeps by the cut off spot. I have to keep pulling the fuse off and on tell I hit the cut off spot then it stays off. Opening the hood after I stop in a downpour to do this isn't my idea of fun. When your away from home the weather is what the weather is and you just have to deal with it. It would be nice to figure this out in case someone else runs into this. It's either inside the motor, the stalk switch. Or one of the wires has a issue I guess.
