Seat advice: what's correct for 1968?

I just bought a set of 1968 Recaro S sportseats which now need to be completely re-done.

My car is a light ivory 68S coupe. My idea is to go down the classic route and have them done in black leather with pepita (b/w houndsthouth) centres.

Would that be correct for 1968? Was there ever something like perforated leather for the outer parts?

Or would you suggest a completely different comination?

Thank you for your suggestions and your feedback!
    Keep up the speed!

Here's my two original 68 Recaros that I sourced separately to make a pair - both used perforated vinyl bolsters and pepita, though one is the beige/black and the other black/black pepita.

Anatol. This seems to suggest that leather was possible for 68, with perforation. I have no way of checking.

I have a '68 sport seat that has perforated bolsters, with black corduroy centers; it definitely was available.

Hi I think anatols question was whether perforated genuine leather (not vinyl) was available for the boulsters. Or are your Seats with genuine perforated Leather?

The picture looks just like the non-reclining seat in post # 3. I suspect that's the "NOT COLLAPSIBLE" seat and the "COLLAPSIBLE" seat probably looked like the reclining seat in post # 3.

Note that pepita or corduroy (ribbed velvet) cloth inserts were available only with leatherette (Skai), not real leather.

Perforated leatherette was available in the early 911s, carried over from late 356s. There's a brochure showing perforated leather on the insert portion of a very early 1965 911's (non-sport) seats.

I think real leather was not perforated, but I can't prove it.

Hello! The headrests on the red car seem to be similar to the ones fitted to early Mercedes Benz w108's. I'll take some pictures from my 250SE 1967 and I'll post them. Regards.
