    1972 Grill + Script Question

I have seen some early production 1972 cars with Aluminum Grill and script. Is this incorrect or did some of the early cars still retain the features of the 1971 Cars? By early I mean July 1971 production.

1972 model year seemingly has a mix of early and late LWB exterior features:

    Black Grill
    Black P O R S C H E script
    Black Badge

    Chrome Horn Grills
Chrome Trim around turn signal lenses

    Black Script
    Black 2.4 Badge
    Chrome Horn Grilles
    Chrome TS lenses

Thanks Frank. Mine was produced 7/71. It is currently wearing all chrome/aluminum trim pieces. I am not sure if it has been re-done, or if it original. Anyone have definitive knowledge?

Do you have visual proof of "early 72" production (ie summer 71) having still chrome grills ?
And if they do, how do you know it was not later added on/or changed.

Looks like they definitely switched to black grills instantly and it always had an 2.4 badge.
So far I dont recall any (period) pic of a 1972 with chrome grill.

Below what is beleived to be very early 2.4l models, shot in late spring 1971.
The pics might be retouched/photoshop. (In the orange car one can see a 911 badge on the glove box lid.)

Another early production 2.4l with round Durant mirror.

Orange car looks like it has a 911T badge on the glove box door and either a 911E or 911S badge on the rear engine lid!
