Thread: Turn signal wiring.

  1. #1

    Turn signal wiring.

Recently bought front turn signal housings from Stoddard. The new ones have black, red and green wires.

The old ones have black, grey and brown wires. Which wires connect?

    Thanks.

    Brown is the ground wire
    Black is the flasher wire
    Grey is the pilot light

Well it is on a SWB anyway

    Hope that helps

On the new set which is the flasher wire the

OK from the car the original brown (ground) wire I assume goes to the new assembly black wire.

But " " " " " grey and black go to which new red or green?

I always throw away that silly repro stuff and install the original wiring. Then everything works right and the colors are correct.

Normally I would get a new harness and be done with it but I really didn't want the expense.
The previous owner cut through the harness at the housing. His plan was to replace the housing and splice the wires.
Well now it's my project and to save money I bought a reproduction housing and lenses but have no idea how these wire
colors match except I know brown is ground. All I want is safe and functional.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    I'm at wits end.
    Thanks

I didn't mean you had a white wire,,,,,the left side wire is black with a white tracer, the right side is black with a green tracer. As to the wires on the new unit I have no idea what those colors mean, that's where you use the ohm meter to see which bulbs they go to. Then attach them to the proper existing wires in the car. I could never understand why some people cut the wires,,,,,,all you have to do is UNPLUG it at the bulkhead!! Oh, and I would not recommend scotch locks or butt connectors. Solder and heat shrink tubing.
