Silly question: rebuilt brake calipers, position back so bleeders up or down?

I removed the calipers from my '66 a couple of weeks ago. Promptly used a marker to indicate the right side calipers. Rebuilt them. And in the course of cleaning them, the mark, of course, was wiped away. And I can't remember which way they go back on the car (getting old). Should the bleeders be pointed up, or down toward the ground? Thanks. And proceed to give me the hard time I deserve.

Bleeders always go up because that's where the air accumulates... unless the car is upside down or you are in Australia.

I thought so. But take a look at the bottom-right photo on page 29 of the most recent Esses. Bleeders pointing down. Someone tell the owner of that beautiful '67 S.

Maybe he thought the fluid would drain easier. :-)

The photo on page 29 appears to show the rear suspension in "mock-up" mode, as the rotor has yet to be fitted, and can not be fitted with the caliper in place, therefore requiring it's removal.

I trust the owner has them installed in the correct position.

Depends. when flushing the loo, does the water swirl in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction?
