If you're referring to Bill Yates, he owned a small VW & Porsche dealership in San Juan Capistrano, now Capistrano Volkswagen.
The car still appears to have a Stuttgart plate.

    Hi Jon,

I suppose Bill Yates could have owned the car, but as he had a racing service company, I was assuming that he was taking car of the car for its owner. The “x 7” on the side means the driver was a novice. Would anyone know any contact info for Bill Yates, to see if he has any old records? Or does anyone have the date and place of this Porsche event, and maybe we could find the drivers name from an entry list. Appreciate any insights and help!

He probably imported the car. I think he passed away in the 1990s.

Any ideas if his old records are around with a family member? Or someone to contact at the factory to find out who exported it to Bill? Thanks!

That's possible, but I think the "X" was more likely a POC racing class.
The white 911R has a "Z" by its number.

The "X" was PCA class back at this time. I remember the car.

John - do you remember who owned and drove the car back then? And possibly even any entry sheets or contact info?

I kinda' remember Bill Yates was the driver. He then went to the wide body car after that.
