Ok, correct radio but you need this faceplate setup:

To add to Dmills list: the additional drain/rib cut outs in the nose panel. These started to appear in late 72my and into the transiton to early 73my. Autumn 72. My car, S310 has them, 9/72 build. I have seen quite a few pre dating mine with them, and some after mine without. Typical.

My understanding is that as the radio does not figure on the COA that it was a dealer install. The factory supplied the antena and the dash mounted central speaker. Is it at all possible that the dealer mounted/fitted the radio as is? Or are all dealer fitted radios as per your photo?
I personally prefer the radio as per your photo, it seems humbler and less cluttered...

Just a note that there was no universal way for dealer-installed radios. Depending on the dealership structure, it may have driven as much by the parts department as anything else. The dealer I worked at in '73-'76 would install anything the customer wanted, often sending the cars out to an independent car stereo shop.
    Expect to see many variations.

Good. So we agree that there is NO absolute.

agree, I don't believe there were any absolutes......my car was a radio delete car.....but the factory installed 2 speakers in the rear parcel shelf and it came with a factory installed manual antenna

What is funny/sad......the COA I ordered from Porsche only mentions the options I told them the car had...plus Pirelli tires.....they even ask me what to give them the month build off the door jam, so they could put that on the COA....disapointing to say the least
