    turn L & R to see if it is the CVs - you can coast in neutral with motor off while doing it in a deserted parking lot

    Now you're on the right track.

    I think you need to be looking for a drivetrain vibration that's transferring through to the shifter.

    If the rubber is worn around the perimeter of the ball cup that will definitely cause problems.
