    Part No. Steering Wheel 1973

    Dear all,
my 911 S was delivered 02/73 and I am wondering which part no. is the right one for the 400mm in leather.
The original catalog is irritating to me. It says the folowing:
    -72 400mm in leather part no.901 347 081 10
    73- 400mm in plasic part no. 911 347 082 00

I could not find a leather steering wheel for model year 1973 only -72.

I have a steering wheel date stamp 7 72 and part no. 911 347 082 00, what was the original cover on it (plastic or leather)?

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks......Oliver

My 73S came with steering wheel 911 347 082 00, 10/72. It is a rubber covering which in my case is remarkably well done. You have to look closely and feel the grip to tell any difference. It does not feel any different than well worn, smooth leather. And it is original to my car.

73 US models came only with molded rubber. Leather was optional. Euro cars got leather as standard on S cars. Nothing is certain.
    My 73s came with rubber.

I have the proper one for your car for sale here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...ing-wheel.html . The original one is 91134708200, it is a leather look alike, very hard to tell that it's faux leather though. The one I have is dated 1/73.

Thanks for the useful hints and the offer, but I'll leave my wheel in my car.
