    Scheel seat identification help needed

    Hi,

I have been offered the set of Scheel seats in the pictures. As far as I know they came out of a '69 Targa converted to G-model. Can anybody help me with a model/type and approximate age? Would they be very wrong period-wise for my '67 912?

The pictures are not the best, I can take detailed photos of one seat if needed for identification

Thanks in advance for any answers!

No one from the seat police around? Anyone with a tip for a good resource for info on older Scheel seats, I have tried to search quite a bit, but have not come up with anything usefull...

I think the seats looks quite a lot like theese for sale on german ebay, the seat area, the hinges and the adjustment levers look very similar, but the seatback, the bolsters and the head rest differs.

I tried to test mount the drivers seat, and I must say that the "new" seat kind of transforms the "feel" while driving, but I am stille undecided if they look too modern in the car.

Again, any info on older Scheel seats would be appreciated!!

I have a set of similar Scheel seats in a '72S I recently purchased. I was under the impression ther were 400's but have not verified that. I know they were in the car from the mid-70's, so period correct or at least close. They are popular with the BMW folks. Sorry, but that may not be a lot of help.

    Hi Bopa,

They do indeed look very similar. Just tried a quick google search for 400's, and several different seats turn up, but also these... but thank you for your reply, good to know, that the seats are at least from the seventies.

The backrests look like 200s - I've been told that mine, shown in the photo, are model 200 from the mid-70s. I believe 400s have larger bolsters.

    Hi rmakosaito,

Your headrests look different, much lower and with more curve around the neck of the passenger, but the rest looks very similar. The headrest on the ones I have been offered are more square, and have a button on the inside where you can tilt the angle of the headrest. When searching I have seen both 200, 400 and 500 models of Scheels from the 60's and 70's, but also comfort versions of the numbers - mavbe that has something to do with the headrests?

I'm by no means the seat police but from appearances those are school 5601s.
