    I doubt that 002 was ever photogenic enough for publicity shots --- except at a distance, maybe?

    The car that I knew was more 'tool' than 'trophy' --- and well-beyond used


    On the other hand, it was spectacular to drive --- with a speed and composure that was at complete odds with its appearance . . .


    And considering what they accomplished with these, imagine what Porsche could have done had they pursued this concept with their civilian cars



    I mean --- imagine something like this . . . with a 2.7 liter . . .

    Surprisingly the Barth book is incorrect. The 4 cyl 4 cam cars started with chassis 904-001 (001, 002 and 003 being the prototypes). The 904/6 cars with the 901/20 engine started with chassis 906-001. The first 906 was chassis 906-101.
