Freshening up a tangerine 1970 Targa

I bought this wonderful Targa last fall from a neighbor in Vermont. He'd owned it for only two years after buying it off its second owner in Sonoma, CA and shipping it East. Some of the history is known. It was brought to the U.S. very early in its life and lived in Northern CA until the early 1990's, when it was bought by a guy who promptly undertook a home engine rebuild and then only drove the car 3K miles in the ensuing 20 years. It doesn't need a restoration, just freshening -- paint, engine rebuild, a couple of gearbox syncros. This car has no rust, has never been hit, every panel is original, and it's never been modified.

It's got some very nice options...

This is what it looked like the day I picked it up.

Right now the engine is disassembled and the body is in bare metal. More to come...

I need to do a longer update, but this car is now finished and residing happily in my garage. It's a gem of a targa and drives wonderfully. The original COA, posted above, was incomplete. Below is the complete one (that is still missing a couple of things, I believe). A well optioned Euro 911T.

Beautiful car. Exactly like my very first Porsche 911. That was a great car. Enjoy it.
