I suspect most respondents have modified cars or are used to more modern steering wheel sizes. I'm not a purist but DO prefer the larger wheel.

My 356 has a custom koa wood wheel built on the original VDM spokes, but I chose to keep it stock diameter. Both of our 911s sport stock 400mm wheels,
one leather and one wood; they're comfortable and as I drive more with fingertips than a "grip", feels right. I want the feedback and sensitivity they provide on cars
with relatively skinny tires. While some might want an even a beefier wheel in a racecar, I ran the stock padded 380mm in my 914/6GT for that reason and it was perfect.

Sold that car but kept the wheel (and the Scheel seat). Going into my next GT.

    390mm MOMO
I tried a 350mm and had to twist my speedo and oil temp/pressure so I could see them. I didn't like the look.

    370

With the original standard seat, I could only barely get in/around the stock 400mm wheel . . . + dog-leg 1st gear was almost impossible to select

A smaller seat helped (like, LOTS) but I found/ended-up fitting a thin-rimmed MoMo Le Mans wheel (370mm) --- which made everything more comfortable . . . getting in/out, sitting, steering, shifting. Smaller diameter = higher effort, true --- but I really like the thinner rim . . . lots of talk-back through the wheel + good/stout/attached feel

Should prolly extend the column --- to get that last little bit of clearance . . .

    . . . but 911s are never really all-that roomy, anyway, so . . .

    . . . settle for cozy

I bought this 370mm Abarth in 2013 for my '84 Carrera. Selected strictly because it was the only new wheel available larger than 350-360mm. I pulled it out of the Carrera before I sold it and saved for later installation in my '72 T.

Unfortunately, this wheel does not appear to still be available in 370mm today, only 350mm.

Well, sort of. Even though not available new indeed, these cans till be found. This is the same wheel even though it does not have the Abarth inscription. And these have 'faux leather' but it appears yours has been recovered as well.
