For what it's worth, I've never seen the car out and about. I asked a couple of simple questions but, no answers. He might be freaked because I'm so close. Looked like a great opportunity to get into a running car with minimal "in".

From what I can see, its a garage resto with a lot of it being paint and undercoating over original undercoating and plating. If anyone is truly interested in pursuing, PM me. Would be happy to help with impressions, details.
Interesting that he said no to an inspection on a no reserve auction car - I would think he would be happy to try to get someone interested in bidding to drive the price up - ?

Well, he said no to me looking at it this weekend. I haven't received an answer to whether he'll let it be inspected at all before the end of the auction.

    nice optics

FOR THIS 911R RECREATION THE 1972 911 T US MODEL WAS SELECTED BECAUSE IS THE MODEL YEAR THAT IS INSPIRED WITH 911R AND ONLY YEAR THAT HAS OIL FILLER/TANK ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHICH IS A TRADE MARK OF ORIGINAL 911R.

Does make much sense to me. R is SWB so a 67 or 68 would be a better selection. 2.4T motor also not a great fit.

Got my answer. No personal inspections or PPI will be allowed before the end of the auction. That is a shame because the tub does have appearance of a dry car to start. Going to be a crap shoot for the potential winner. Won't be me. I think I used up all my luck with EBay auctions when I won my 70S.

It's really not a recreation. It's more of a tribute to the 911R.

Replica: A copy of an original car made under the supervision of the original artisan.
Tribute: A car produced to commemorate a person, an event or another object.

The nice thing about building a tribute car is it doesn't have to be anything like the car it's honoring. You could even build a Ducati as a tribute to the 911R. All you have to do is say "This Ducati was built to honor the Porsche 911R."

    Auction Description:

This immaculate Porsche 911T was imported from the USA to the UK in 2011, just after it had received a complete 'nut & bolt' rebuild and modification to RS/ST specification by Carrera Motors in Oregon. The engine was replaced with a fully rebuilt carburetted three litre unit from a 911SC and mated to a G50 five-speed gearbox with Wevo selector. The steel rear wheel arches have been widened and the car has been fitted with a full RS interior. Since the car has been in the UK, it has been stored in a temperature controlled environment and looked after and fully maintained by a Porsche racing specialist based in Surrey, recently undergoing £8,000 worth of additional work.

This RS/ST recreation offers the thrills, looks and sound of the original but at a considerably lower price. As early 911s are becoming more sought-after by collectors, they are regarded as a sound and eminently useable investment. It should be noted that that this car started life as an original long-nose 911T and, as such, should be considered far superior to the usual back-dated 964 or SC. With original ST or RS models commanding eight times the price, this example appears excellent value. Supplied with a history file, UK V5C registration document and a full year MoT test certificate, the devil is certainly in the detail and the detail is evident from stem to stern.

Anyone know any history about this build. Love the clean uncluttered 3.2 EFI/ITB set up! Was a CA car that was traded in for a new Porsche and Trissl picked up to flip.
