    PCAR Description:

We are pleased to present this stunning '73 911 Carrera RS 2.7 tribute finished in Green Metallic over a period correct black interior. Starting life out as a 1970 911T, this 2.7 was completely overhauled and transformed by German Technology in Largo, FL. into this stunning RS tribute we see today. Highlighting a fully rebuilt fuel-injected engine and butt-welded rear fenders, this tribute was built as closely to original spec as possible. This uncompromising build is now being offered for auction showing approximately 2k miles on the odometer by a seller in Florida.

Carrying over the original color of the donor 1970 911T bodyshell, this RS tribute has been refinished in striking Green Metallic (838-H). Nearly $20k has been spent on the bare-metal restoration of the body alone to ensure a factory-like finish. This RS is stated to be in a pristine, show-quality state with all new exterior trim, moldings, body seals, lights and glass. The complete rebuild of this car includes flared and butt-welded rear fenders just as Porsche originally used in the factory. Original-spec RS bumpers were installed along with a distinctive ducktail rear decklid and Fuchs style wheels which come dressed in period-correct Michelin tires.

Inside, this tribute has been appointed with a period-correct black RS interior. The seller states that the interior has been completely restored to as-new standards with fully functional gauges, electrical components and accessories. Highlights include full RS carpeting, RS door panels and brand-new Sport S seats which come upholstered in perforated black leather.

This RS is powered by a fully rebuilt 2.7L flat-six engine featuring an increased output of approximately 210 HP. The rear wheels are driven by way of a completely reconstructed 5-speed manual transmission making for a visceral and authentic driving experience. The original block was rebuilt from the ground up using all new internals and an overhauled mechanical fuel injection system to ensure this engine is as close to RS spec as possible. The suspension and braking systems were also rebuilt using brand new parts and accordingly dialed-in to factory specifications. A few fortunate drivers who have actually experienced the original ’73 RS have commented that this beautifully executed tribute loses nothing to the real thing. The seller has indicated that this RS currently stands in excellent driving condition. Detailed invoices breaking down all of the work performed during this build will be provided.

The sale of this incredible RS tribute will include extensive invoices and documentation, one key, and a clear title. Paying homage to one of the most iconic and sought-after Porsches ever, this RS offers the driver an experience that only a few have had the pleasure of enjoying.

    BaT Description:

This 1973 Porsche 911E coupe was modified in the RSR-style by Gary Dielacher of GD Racing in San Bruno, California beginning in 2011. The donor car was sourced in Los Angeles and was fitted with carbon fiber and fiberglass composite body panels prior to being repainted in Viper Green, and the interior was refurbished using ST-replica seats and other RSR-style components. Power is provided by a 3.6-liter VarioRam flat-six from a 1997 993 Carrera paired with a rebuilt 915 5-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. After the previous owner acquired the car in 2018 it received further updates, including a 65L fuel tank with a front-trunk filler neck and billet cap. Since acquiring the car on BaT in 2019, the current owner has performed a paint treatment, a nut-and-bolt inspection, track-use preparations, and other small fixes. Approximately 1,100 miles have been added since the build was completed, and the car is now being offered on the current owner’s behalf with a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, invoices from the build, records from the seller, two additional rear decklids, and a clean California title.

The shell was media blasted to bare metal and was fitted with new floor pans after pinholes were discovered, and the car was then repainted in Viper Green. To help reach the RSR target weight of 1,850 pounds, the car has been fitted with fiberglass front fenders, RS-style bumpers, fiberglass composite doors with aluminum hinges, and a carbon fiber rear engine lid with integrated ducktail. Fiberglass composite rear fenders are bonded to the tub, and a carbon fiber roof center panel was installed using flanges added to the edges of the factory roof, while leaving the factory A and B pillars.

For additional weight savings the car was fitted with polycarbonate windows in place of the factory side glass and rear screen, and 911R-style leather straps with snap fasteners have been installed and secure the side windows in the open and closed positions. H4 lamps replace the factory sugar scoop items and are fitted with chrome trim rings, and the car is equipped with amber front and rear indicator lenses.

The 17″ Fikse/Zuffenhaus wheels were refinished by Harvey Weidman with an RSR-style matte finish, and measure 9″ wide at the front and 11″ at the rear. The Kumho Ecsta XS tires measure 245/45 at the front and 315/35 at the rear and show 2014 date codes.

The cabin features replica ST fixed-back seats, which are secured with double-locking Recaro rails and were upholstered in perforated leather with corduroy inserts by Michael Eberhardt at Vintage Seats in Cumming, Georgia. The seats reportedly weigh approximately 14 pounds each, and other weight-saving measures include RSR-style door panels and a custom RSR-style lightweight carpet set. The radio, heater controls, and glovebox door have been removed but are included, and the Rennsport shifter is fitted with a factory rubber boot.

The four-spoke 914-6 steering wheel measures 380mm in diameter and was double-wrapped to mimic factory RS wheels. Instrumentation includes a 10k-rpm tachometer and a 180-mph speedometer with a six-digit odometer indicating 1,200 miles. The current owner has added several hundred miles during his ownership.

The 3.6-liter VarioRam flat-six was sourced from a 1997 993 Carrera and reportedly showed between 2-3% leakdown on five cylinders and 4% on the remaining cylinder at the time of installation. The Motronic DME has been reflashed to disable the drive-block and OBDII sensors, and the fuel maps were retuned. An internally-modified Dansk sport muffler features twin RSR-style outlets, and 930 oil lines lead to an in-fender aluminum oil cooler with fan and a second RS-style oil cooler in the lower front valence.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 1986 Type 915 5-speed manual transaxle with a 40%-locking ZF differential, which was rebuilt prior to installation. Under current ownership the car has received a nut-and-bolt inspection, track preparations, and assorted minor fixed by BBI Autosport.

The factory steel rear trailing arms have been replaced with a set of aluminum items from a 1976 Carrera. Other suspension modifications include green Bilstein HD shocks at the front, yellow Bilstein Sport shocks at the rear, 19mm front and 23mm rear torsion bars, and 1973 RS-sized sway bars measuring 16mm at the front and 18mm out back. 944 Turbo front calipers are installed, and the rear brakes are 1986 Carrera items. A 23mm brake master cylinder is fitted in place of the original 19mm unit.

A flat fiberglass decklid with an early, black aluminum grille and a black RS-style stripe is included. A color-matched 964 decklid with wing is also included, though the wing portion has not been painted, shows two cracks, and does not include a lifting motor.

    BaT Description:

This 1972 Porsche 911T coupe has been refurbished and modified to resemble a Carrera RS and is equipped with a rebuilt 2.7-liter flat-six, mechanical fuel injection, and a five-speed 915 gearbox. The build was completed in 2017 by 911 Cars of the UK at a reported cost of over £100k. Work included a repaint in Viper Green following bodywork outlined below, and additional features include 15″ Fuchs wheels, Recaro sport seats, refurbished gauges, metal fender flares, and more as described in the listing. The car was brought to the US after the refurbishment was completed and reportedly covered more than 500 miles on the 2019 Smokies GT rally. This 911 is now offered by the selling dealer in Georgia with records and photos of the build, as well as a clean Maryland title.

A US-spec 1972 body shell was used for the basis of this build and features the one-year-only oil tank door on the passenger-side rear fender. Bodywork prior to the Viper Green repaint included welding 3.2L Carrera fender flares onto the rear quarter panels, as well as replacing the side sills and having the bare shell dipped and e-coated. A fiberglass RS ducktail spoiler and front valance have also been added, along with H4 headlights.

Polished 15×7″ and 15×8″ Fuchs alloy wheels are wrapped in Avon CR6-ZZ radials measuring 185/70 in front and 215/60 in the rear. The suspension and brakes were refurbished during the build, including new shocks, torsion bars, anti-roll bars, rotors, pads, a master cylinder, and more as outlined by an invoice pictured in the gallery. Recent maintenance is said to have included a brake fluid flush, a ride-height adjustment, and an alignment.

The cabin features Recaro sport seats trimmed in black leather, along with matching RS-style door panels and carpeting. Other features include aluminum door sill trim and a period Blaupunkt stereo. A 380mm Carrera RS steering wheel is said to retain its factory 914-6 part number stamping and fronts a set of refurbished VDO gauges. The five-digit odometer was reportedly reset to zero during the build and currently displays just under 3k miles.

Power comes from a 2.7-liter flat six that was rebuilt by 911 Cars during the refurbishment and features a host of RS parts that are listed on the invoice in the gallery. The magnesium 7R engine case was reportedly align bored and pinned during the rebuild, and recent work is said to have included tuning of the MFI system, a timing adjustment, fitting new spark plugs, and an oil and filter change. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt five-speed manual transaxle that reportedly features RS gear ratios.

A spare Fuchs wheel and tire are stowed in the front trunk along with dual Bosch batteries. Records and parts receipts from the refurbishment are included in the sale, as are photos of the build process.

The current owner and builder of this car, Jon Gunderson isn’t your normal Porscefile. He got his first 911 when he was just 18 years old and has owned one ever since. Over the years Jon has assembled a specialized team of craftsmen, engine builders, interior specialists and mechanics to help him build his dream cars. Currently, Jon is building a limited run series of 3 art cars. This is 1 of 3. For this particular build he opted to combine the legendary aesthetics of the 917 Gulf Livery coupled with RSR level performance. Jon’s background is in advertising where making a loud statement is just as important as the little details and you can tell he carries this philosophy into his builds. The car has received a lot of attention over the years and the entire build has been posted by Jon on rennlist.com The car has been featured on various Youtube channels such as The Smoking Tire and Hooniverse. Jon uses the car on weekends for Cars and Coffee and Porsche related shows and most recently won Best in Show at Zuffenhausen in Pasadena.

The Gulf livery has been beautifully painted with no vinyl used. All decals and logos have been hand painted (yes, even the Porsche crest). Though this level of detail is time consuming and expensive the end result is truly spectacular and has been carried throughout the entire build. Many hours of metal shaping and test fitting are necessary for perfect panel fitment and it was important to Jon that no fiberglass was used. The widened front/rear fenders are steel, the bumpers are steel and the hood and duck tail spoiler are aluminum. A recessed hole was drilled in the hood and an aluminum fuel cap was added for the center fill 100 liter fuel tank.

It’s refreshing to see a build so clearly planned from the beginning, no guess work, just quality craftsmanship with quality materials. Though the car wasn’t built for the track, it has the capabilities to be raced: 930 turbo two piece rotors, 930 turbo trailing arms, front shock tower brace, Vonn shocks with RSR style front suspension and Braid Wheels 9x15 front/11x15 rear wrapped in Michelin TB 15 tires. RSR style reinforcements were added to the front/rear shock towers as well as the torsion tubes. A front and under fender oil cooler feeds the engine through Elephant Racing oil lines with an exterior oil fill. A custom lightweight wiring harness was installed to further reduce weight. Final exterior touches include all new H4 headlights, turn signals and lenses as well as drilled door handles and RSR style rubber lid hold downs.

The original RSR engine from the 1970’s was a 2.8 liter producing roughly 280 horsepower with a race weight of 2015 lbs. Initially inspired by the original, Jon set out to improve upon this formula with lots of reliable power in an aesthetically period package. No expense was spared during the engine build and Rothsport Racing in Oregon was tasked with the job. Their team designed and built a 3.5 liter engine with a trick EFI system built into the existing MFI housing. The result is a beautiful, powerful and factory looking engine with a Dyno confirmed 355 horsepower. In addition, a euro spec 915 transmission was rebuilt by Rothsport with a separate oil cooler.

Jon’s lucky enough to be neighbors with Autos International, the premier shop for anything Porsche interiors. The interior is a combination of Alcantara and genuine leather. The dash topper, knee pad, door and quarter panel garnish rails are finished in black alcantara and the seats, roll bar and steering wheel are wrapped in black leather. The custom roll bar is wrapped in leather with contrasting orange stitching and matching orange seat belts. The headliner is black Alcantara. The Recaro seats are finished in leather with corduroy inserts and metal grommets. Door panels are RSR style with black leather door pulls. The gauges were rebuilt by Joe’s Speedometer in Reseda. A beautiful single white faced tachometer is flanked by black faced speedometer, oil, fuel and Huer clock. The pedal assembly is from 901 Shop in Florida featuring a dual master cylinder unit with adjustable balance bar retailing for $4000. No expense was spared and no budget was set, this is a passion project after all! A Wevo short shifter was installed, perfectly complimenting the rebuilt 915 transmission with crisp short shifts. Aluminum pedal boards by RennLine were also installed. The side window glass is thinner and all new glass was installed throughout. And finally, as a homage to the original, a RSR style leather wrapped steering wheel rounds out a beautifully appointed interior. The attention to detail is on par with our own restorations with the bespoke quality of a Singer.

We urge you to go check out the Youtube videos produced for this car to get a better sense of the driving experience and incredible sounds it makes. Hundreds of photos were taken throughout the build process which will be included with purchase as well as written documentation of the build. Jon is an active member of the Porsche community and is currently building 2 more RSR Tribute cars so stay tuned!

    Auction Description:

    - An original, 1973 left-hand drive, 911T brilliantly modified to 2.8 RSR specification
    - Delivered to the US in 1973. Returned to Germany in 2009
    - Converted to RSR-spec by Scuderia-Eleven GmbH. Engine rebuild Bienert Boxer-Motoren
    - Finished in Grand Prix White. UK-registered with historic vehicle status
    - Accompanied by its UK V5c, MOT certificate, DMSB Historic Technical Passport, FIA papers and an inspection report from Gunther Frey. Dipl.Ing (FH)

We are pleased to offer for sale an original 1973 left-hand drive, 911T brilliantly modified to 2.8 RSR specification and accompanied by an FIA Technical Passport (Competition GT; Class GTS27). Unusually, for a conversion of this nature, the car is UK-registered with Historic Vehicle tax status and could be used on the road or circuit.

Chassis Number 9113100481 was originally delivered to the USA in March 1973, however much of its early history is unknown. In 1991, it was registered as belonging to Patricia J Vanleen of Baton Rouge, Los Angeles and in October 2009 was returned to Germany in the care of the S & N Automobilzentrum Aachen Gmbh. From July 2010 until October 2017, the car was the pride and joy of the previous owner, who sold it through Silverstone Auctions Porsche sale in October 2017. During his seven-year ownership, upon arrival in Germany, the decision was taken to create an accurate RSR replica using the 911T as a basis and this work was entrusted to 'Scuderia-Eleven' with the engine left in the capable hands of Bienert Boxer-Motoren, who have over 25 year's experience in preparing air-cooled Porche engines.

The specification is too long to detail here but briefly; Original engine type 911/51 (2.4 Litre, 140bhp) replaced with 1974/75, 911/41 engine taken out to 2.8-litres, compression ratio 10.8: 1 producing 265 bhp with mechanical fuel injection, and dual ignition. Five-speed, 'short-shift' 915 gearbox and a ZF LSD. Front strut-brace, adjustable front shocks, adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars, front and rear polyurethane axle bushes, thicker torsion bars, and steel braided brake lines. Front tyres: 215/55 R1, rear tyres 270/45 R15. Wheels front: 9Jx15 and rear 11Jx15. The bumpers, front and rear bonnets and the wings were replaced with composite parts. 'Makrolon' polycarbonate side and rear windows. Welded-in multi point roll cage. Sports steering wheel, sports seats with full harnesses and aluminium footplates. The final set-up was completed by Kadach.com for Harry Utesche at DLS Automobile in Stuttgart.

The previous owner, a well-known racing driver who has raced RSRs in the past, admits “There is no excuse or way to avoid the fact that I fell completely in love with this car some time before it came to market. For me, it was the perfect looking, quintessential 911”. Having owned the car for seven years he confirmed, “It is THE most tactile, malleable and sweet performer on the circuit with very much the right amount of power matching the grip available with a performance not so far from the delightful racetrack-only Chevron B8s etc. Around Spa and Monza, it was just pure racing delight”.

Enjoyed by the current owner for the past couple of years the time has now come for someone else to enjoy this special motor car. The new owner of this wonderful 911 has a number of options. It's a legal and perfectly usable road car, although, with a full competition suspension set-up, it wouldn't be long before you became good friends with your chiropractor, it could be developed into a pure, no-holds-barred, full house racer, or left as it is, an 'on-the-button' entry for some of Europe's most prestigious events including Tour Auto, Spa Classic, and the Monza Historic.

Finished in sparkling Grand Prix White, this immaculate Porsche is accompanied by its UK V5C, MOT Certificate, DMSB Historic Technical Passport, and an inspection report from Gunther Frey. Dipl.Ing (FH). The car's FIA papers were issued in 2012 and are therefore still current.
