Thread: Got a boat? Let's see it with a name on it.

I bought it new in 1996. 351 Ford Windsor power - 240hp, burns about 5 gallons an hour @ 35 mph, runs like a champ.
It currently has about 700 hours on the clock.

Our Hobie PowerSkiff, a great little runabout on the flats that was designed to also take big waves confidently. I'd post pics of our Bertram 25, but it's embarrassingly crusty.

These lightweight boats were ahead of their time and didn't sell well, but the hull shape lives on via several makes. This one's a 1985 14' center console with a 70 Johnson.

That purchase price is only the tip of the iceberg with that boat! To speak nothing of what's involved with cosmetic upkeep, the loads generated by the sail area and ballast play havoc with the structure on such a narrowed beamed wooden boat. To sail it is no picnic; there is very little standing rigging such as a permanent backstay. That mast can easily come out of the boat. That said, a thing of immense beauty and enjoyed by everyone who sees it. Here is my 1966 Rayson Craft...on the other end of the spectrum.

The L6 Mercurys are great. My earlier (pre CDI ignition) is not without it's liabilities. Volvo drives are awesome. I had a 67 Donzi Ski Sporter with one. I recently had a 69 Donzi 18 with a Holman Moody 427 Side Oiler and V drive. I sold it to a friend with the resources to bring it back to new. Is that your XK 22? that and the 19 were cool.

I forgot to mention, Mercury 496 HO, 425 HP and a Bravo One Mercury outdrive. 75 mph.
Those are all excellent boats and Yachts.
