    RENNSPORT REUNION V, Sept. '15

The last four incredible days came and went in a blur - RR V is behind us and in the books,…………and Boy, Ohh Boy, what four days they were.

I can honestly state that all expectations were met, at least mine and almost all of my reasonable friends expectations were met and in many instances exceeded. My sincere, heartfelt appreciation goes to the total number of corporate and municipal organizations and all the tireless, imaginative, persuasive individuals who pulled this much anticipated event off, and who have every right to be very proud of their achievement. Thank You all very much.

Below, please find a modest collection of 'teaser' shots I downloaded and processed this morning upon my return home. I tried to combine images from every major aspect of RR V - the people, the cars from all eras, the living legends, the unforgettable Chopard Heritage Exhibit, the Museum Collection, the track, the pits and some shots that really don't say much of anything, but hopoefully help convey a feeling of the ambiance of joy, wonder, anticipation and celebration that prevailed during the weekend for those who were unbable to attend this jewel for one reason or another.

I will complete my portion of this thread and post the remainder of all my 'keepers' in my typically long and windy photo-essay style when I return from a much needed fly-fishing vacation with my son, as well as having to follow up on some other obligations I committed to a long time ago.

See you all sometime in the second half of October………….and I sincerely hope it'll all retain some relevance.

    Thanks for looking,

    JZG

" #4 - the line-up of historic racercars on the track for the media-session on Thursday afternoon…….it's the best I could do without press credentials.
" #5 - Jeff Zwart and his crew of magicians heading to the track in his "mobile office" to shoot the action.

This full set is all about the cars - starting with a reminder that the best time by far to see the cars, at rest that is, at either the Motorsports or Rennsport Reunions, is at sunrise……….one simply can't arrive too early. For a short time you'll have the place to yourself, you can see what you want to see without interference, you can plan your day, the light is unbelievable and you don't have to talk to strangers you've never met or seen because most of them are elsewhere doing something else.

Another full set of more cars, starting out with the covered pits full of historic racers, Porsche Platz ( after all, they pay for this whole shindig ), the general pits, and very special noteworthy Porsches from all over the world.

The second half of this set covers some of the track action that goes pretty much all day except for a break for lunch.

……..and finishing up for now with some random images of legends being themselves, friends, and the astonishing variety of cars that always manage to surprise, delight and amaze.

On Thursday I found myself "pressed" into helping stage cars for the shoot. John, since you've already asked me to post some photos in your absence, I'll add a few images from "on the ground" during set-up. It was incredible -- like being invited into the Sistine Chapel after hours.

I have to say that these are the only decent photos I took in the 5 days that I was at Laguna. Fortunately, far better photographers than I have already posted thousands of images elsewhere on the Mighty Internet (for example, see the Rick Dole's Michelin Alley galleries http://michelinalley.com/gallery/). From my perspective, the very best part of any Rennsport Reunion is the people. All day, every day, I had memorable interactions with the full spectrum of Porsche-philes, from the humble to the great. One of my personal high points was being asked to drive the original owner of the first 924 Carrera GTS Clubsport on the Historic Display Laps. He bought the car from the factory, braved the DOT and EPA, brought the car in as a race car, and drove it at Riverside Raceway. We had the thrill of following the black-and-red "X-ray" 935 driven by Patrick Long during the Historic Display Laps before the concours. If anybody reading this happened to take a photo of us, please PM me or post-up here!

Only four 718 monopostos ever made and three were in attendance. That says everything about this event...

So, do you confirm that the white 924 Carrera GTS on the pictures is wp0zzz93zbs710011?
How does it feel on wheel?

Glad to see that my favorite 996 GT3 RSR was having fun! This is the Petersen Motorsport\White Lightning Racing.

I really need to be there next time
