    >> Elga Andersen, the female co-star
    > The female lead of the film played the German Elga Andersen, who lived at that time in Paris - in the former studio of the painter Henri Matisse. She was invited by the production company CBS Solar to Le Mans after all proposed actresses had been rejected, including Diana Rigg, Maud Adams and Twiggy. Andersen was known by numerous films, primarily by Louis Malle's "L'Ascenseur pour l'Echafaud" ("Lift to the scaffold"), where they could be seen on the side of Jeanne Moreau on the canvas. After a widely rapportierten romance with McQueen during the filming of "Le Mans" she later married Peter Gimpel, the owner of New York luxury department store Saks 5th Avenue.
    >
    >> Jo Siffert, a Swiss racing legend
    > Joseph "Jo" Siffert was one of the most successful Swiss pilots of all time, and at the time of film production an international star: In addition to numerous Formula 1 races he had in the Porsche 907, the long-distance race at Le Mans (1966 and 1967 in the Index Score) Daytona and Sebring (1968) won. Siffert drove in the movie actually the racing cars of the main character, because the insurance company had stopped racing McQueen. But he was not only an outstanding racing driver, but also a shrewd businessman who the other drivers (if necessary! From own wrist) sold Heuer watches in the paddock. In addition to his racing career drove Siffert sports car company Porsche. His company in Yverdon was characterized manufacturers -next self to another technical equipment of the film project: Siffert supplied not only the Porsche 908 and 917, which could be seen on the race track, but also a fleet of road sports cars (including four Porsche 911 and a Porsche 914), which was used in the filming of the crew. This rental of "Demonstration" on a weekly basis was a lucrative business because the filming was delayed massively, resumed after the summer break and continue until late autumn should- what Siffert over $ 100,000 earned. The Porsche 911S of McQueen emerges as the only sports car in this road movie itself; after the completion of filming in late November and the dissolution of production Camps "Solar Village" on the edge of the track in December 1970 McQueen was able to keep the car.
    >
    >> Also, the co-star gets a Porsche
    > After the resumption of the shooting after the summer break but also Elga Andersen had received promised a Porsche by Jo Siffert - the subsequent purchase agreement dated this promise the Solar CBS on 06/10/1970. Thus, Mrs. Andersen received a current 911T, which had already been produced by the Stuttgart factory holidays with the specifications of the model year 1971st This vehicle was later approved in Switzerland in her name, and Elga Andersen had to pay for special requests, such as cassette players originally preserved only genuine Yamaha (quite luxurious). The bill of Garage Siffert in Yverdon from 01.16.1971 know from both arranged in the autumn of 1970 Payments by CBS Solar as well as the special needs of the new owner.
    >
    >> Further Provenance of the car
    > Elga Andersen kept the car until her death in 1994, and bequeathed him her best friend. These moving the vehicle regularly, but only to a moderate extent. Elga Anderson . . .

'. . . (born Helga Hymen, February 2, 1935, in Dortmund – December 7, 1994, in New York City) was a German actress and singer.

From the age of six, she attended a ballet school, and then went to high school in Paris. There she worked as a model and was noticed by the tabloids.

Otto Preminger selected her for a small role in his film Bonjour tristesse in 1958 and gave her the stage name "Elga Andersen". Her first starring role was in 1960 in Brazilian Rhapsody. Into the 1970s she appeared in many predominantly European productions. Her most famous role was as Lisa Belgetti alongside Steve McQueen in Le Mans.

In the 1960s she began to sing and succeeded well in the charts. Among other things, she sang the title song of The Guns of Navarone. In 1978 she married the American millionaire Peter R. Gimbel; in 1981 she worked with her husband in a multi-million-dollar project trying to recover the vault of the SS Andrea Doria, and two documentaries were made for American television . . .

Peter Gimpel was also an adventurer: He explored the jungles of Peru, and filmed great white shark off the coast of Australia. I believe the documentary is called "blue water white death", and it's quite something to watch.

The radio is apparently a Yamaha (!). Waiting for the car to arrive at Christie's to examine it.
