2 holes in left front inner fender

Does anybody know what these holes are meant for? They seem to serve no purpose and are not seen on the right side. I find these holes in all documents I have on 1965 911 cars, my April 1965 912 has them also. One picture I have shows them filled with white plastic plugs, holding nothing (see blue car in pics).

    Hi Ed,
What exactly do you ask for or how would you find it in the store? I dont have an example to show the staff.

They should be in their "widget" area, they are mostly used as license plate attachment plastic inserts for the license plate sheet metal screw into bumper holes.
