    undercoating

    Hi,

my car just came back from dry-ice blasting and now the belly pan etc. is nicely down to bare metal. My question now is, can the undercoating be directly applied to the bare metal or should there be a layer of base/prime coating first then the undercoating and then paint the undercoating?
Thanks for any help in advance.

    Regards.

My 71S is in the paintshop this week, and we put epoxy primer on bare metal all over the car.
I will post some pictures here before xmas.

So what are you guys using to replicate the 69-73 PVC style undercoating? All the products I have researched are too thin after application. The factory PVC undercoating is very thick. And what is the original color of that undercoating? I know it is hard to tell on a 45 year old car. And I am color blind which makes it even more difficult. I am thinking mostly Beige with a bit of Gray.

Porsche used two colors , a tan and a grey . Also for trivia , 69S's built by Porsche did not use the PVC style undercoating , still used the 356 style .The Wurth SKS
replicates the original undercoating very well , but you must use their spray gun .

Correct undercoating surfaces for '67 911S?
Does anyone know the correct areas to undercoat on a '67 911S? Is it the engine bay or engine bay & entire floor pan? We will use a water base smooth finish product for durability which is not spec but would like to apply it on the correct surfaces.
    Thanks for your advice.

The search function is your friend. Nearly EVERY question regarding restoration details is somewhere on this forum.
