    911 R megaphones?

I was told these are the real deal but I'm suspicious. How do I tell if they're real or replica? Thanks, Mark

They look real enough with the seam.

I just installed a set of repops from Jim Tidwell and they are awesome. They come with the bracket and everything.

Look real to me...you have megaphones for the 911, part of the Sports Kit offered in Sports Purposese outline for early 911's, no muffler is used. all you need is the cross bracket to mount the megaphones to the center engine mount. This megaphone is for the standard heat exchangers with the dog leg exit. The R used a header in place of the heat exchanger, the megaphones on the R's are longer and they go into an empty muffler, called a 901/22 named after the engine type. Look for the seams on the megaphone, this is how they were made...nice score...$$$

It was homologated or permissible for Group 3 911T Rally and 911S, and Group 2 911 / 911 L. The parts were listed in "Competition Kit II" part number is 901.100.922.03 for 130 bhp. engine. The R system was homologated or permissible for Group 5 911 / 911 L, and Group 3 911T Rally, 911S. Fotos from the net, show the type of megaphone used for open exhaust.

This 911L has the same type megaphones and bracket, but the car has racing headers on it, so you have to add the dog leg to make up the difference in length and offset.
