I had (and still have in the garage) a OEM (and appropriately date coded ) CDI that I have "replaced' with a unit from PartsKlassic. the main reason I did this is that I occasionally go on long trips (2000kms plus) and wanted the peace of mind that I would not have a 40year old CDI box fail on me in the middle of a trip. I can carry a spare coil etc but thought it prudent to have an upgraded CDI just like I have replaced the points etc and other similar things in the interests of reliability especially on a long trip away from specialists who can fix the car if there are any issues

I'm running the parts Klassik CD in my 71. I don't really notice any performance improvements from stock, maybe a little better cold start. I feel more confident in its reliability though. I carry a permatune for backup, lol.

Thank you for your input! Think I will keep my OEM (and date coded ) CDI box on the car but will start carrying a spare CDI box just in case.
