Fuel tank sending unit still not working...:-(

This is on a '65 car

    -New sending unit
    -New wiring harness
    -Fuel gauge restored and tested
    -Soldered wire connections
-Eight +/- gallons of fuel in tank
-Sending unit retaining screws have been backed off and are just snug tight

When the ignition switch is turned on the fuel gauge needle moves from it's resting position (bumps up) just below the empty mark.

So what is the next test to get this thing working??

    Your input will be appreciated...

Just take the sender out and plug in the harness plug, then with ignition on turn sender upside down and right side up, upside down should show full on the gauge, obviously right side up should show empty. you should hear float moving when doing this.

@edmayo...thanks for the tip, I will give it a try.
@Marek...the tank is the original stock tank that I restored.

    Thanks again,

    Glenn
