Thread: Anyone else have this problem w/ repro orange bar crest?

  1. #11
I just don't understand how something as simple as the pin spacing could be screwed up.

"Hey, before we do a run of these crests, should we check to see if they'll fit?"
    "Nah, looks close enough."

    I mean, really?

Agreed that there is nothing like an original but for the conversation I have a Stoddard repro on one of my cars as I look for the ultimate original to replace it with and it fits perfectly.

Talk to Stoddard and have them send you a new one!

My Wife bought me Porsche's new version a couple years back for Christmas. It looks good, and since my car was repainted by the local Porsche dealership years back it looks better than my beat up original would. My original is the pebbled back 1973, and the new version is smooth like earlier ones. One day I may have the original restored, but for now the Porsche replacement is fine.

When it's shiny and new and cheap looking, it reflects poorly on the rest of the car. I know the original ones out there are costly, but it's one of those original parts you simply cannot do without, IMO.
What a beautiful summation of an element that can make our cars special... Can be applied to several other parts as well

100% agree with comments shared by Milou and Mark. Original if at all possible.

Prefer the originals, as well—but will say I have had several older originals lose one post (meaning the crest detached itself from one post). Am I the only one?

Pretty happy with my reproduction badge I got from AASE last year, the one on the left is an original the one on the right is the new one on my car.

    Really Mike?
I thought you were an original guy all the way. I couldn’t put one of those on my hood. I’m with Milou’s thought exactly.
