How about making adjusters? They go bad or missing a lot.

    Hi Painteddash,

I don't believe that you are able to send or receive PM 's until you have 10 posts. If you would like to make contact, please post your e-mail so that I can contact you.

    Hi Rick,
    I sent you an e-mail.

    Thanks, Jimmy

Hi Jimmy, I'm just seeing this - do you still make and sell those kits? Thanks, Tobias

Yes. Because you have less than 10 posts, you can't send or receive PMs, so if you wish to purchase some pins, please post your e-mail address so that I can contact you.

    Hi guys,

sharing this, hoping it might be helpful to some of you in sourcing pin kits when restoring the Hickok seat belts.

Apparently there is (at least) two Hickock buckles:

the ASE 11-101 (round decal), using a riveted design, to those JimmyT is selling kits
the PG 12171-1 (heraldic decal), using a c-clip, which can be removed and replaced

Now, my car came with the latter, and the previous owner – not finding a solution to replace the pin – rechromed the buckle as a whole. That at the end resulted in a) the springs inside getting corroded by the chemical dip, losing tension and finally snapping off and b) the c-clip being backed to the buckle housing.

What I find in endless nighttime Google sessions is, that there is a repro seat belt that Wolfsburg West ist selling for classic Beetles, Busses and Karman Ghias – using the exact Hickock PG 12171-1 patent. Reasonable priced too, so I ordered a pair of those – grinded off the c-clip on the old ones, and voilá, was able to get everything together back again as new with the spare pin and spring from the repro seat belt. Still need to rechrome the parts, but at least now it can be done the right way. I'm sure you can reproduce the pin yourself using a bolt, forking and notching it - but that was the most efficient way I found.

    (My Reply):

ASE 11-101 HICKOK SEAT BELT REPLACEMENT PERMANENT PINS CAN BE PURCHASED FROM:
(Outstanding Reproduction Pin’s) “Solved my problem!”

*(Otherwise one has to reproduce them using a machinist)

Jim Tidwell at:
(You have to email him for a request)
    Email: jim@tidwell.org

Another solution would be to drill the original pin and use a “Roll Pin” in the drilled hole to lock i*in.

Here is a video showing precisely how to do that from Mike’s Restoration, who painstakingly restored his unbelievable 1967 Porsche 911S to perfection! His early 911 Hickok Seat Belt Restoration and “Roll Pin” Safety Pin “fix” was an amazing alternative solution!:

His AMAZING 911 has got to be one of the most beautiful 1967 911S’s in the world. Incredibly talented individual! It is well worth your time! Trust me…

I hope this helps…

I restored my own Early 911 Hickok Seat Belts using Mike and his detailed videos as my inspiration!
