4.5X15 steel wheels, what is your date and thickness?

Trying to establish when was the last 3.7 thickness wheel produced and what was the first 3.9 thickness wheel produced.

    To start I have a 1/65 that is 3.7 and a 5/65 that is 3.9.
Who has some earlier or later?

    Thanks for starting this thread.

I do have to ask a question, can anyone with a "known" original 65 please add your .02 when you reply. I'd like to see if there are truly any 3,7's on an early 911 or 912 for that matter that were mounted from new.

    tks

    Thanks for looking Jim.
If you want to measure the 7/63 wheel it may be helpful.
I use regular micrometer and measure it between the lug holes (take in consideration the paint).
It would only be of consequence if it was a 3.9.

Ok, I have five April 1965 steel wheels original to my car and at least two additional steel disc brake wheels (could be 356C, 911, or 912). I even have micrometers.

But, where (on the wheel) do you want them measured?

Your wheels should have the thickness stamped between the lug holes like the date.
That is also where they are measured.....

Ok, here's a shot of one of my 911's original Lemmerz 4/65 wheels:

I think this is a poorly stamped 3.9.

Here's one of my two extra wheels--it's dated 3/65:

And, my other extra wheel, dated 4/65:

My wheel collection seems to be later than the date you're looking for.
