I think this is a poorly stamped 3.9.

Here's one of my two extra wheels--it's dated 3/65:

And, my other extra wheel, dated 4/65:

My wheel collection seems to be later than the date you're looking for.
I think it helps. We know that by 3-4 65 3.9 were 'common' on 911. That rises a question, were by then still 3.7 wheels made for the 356 or 912? So are there 3.7 wheels from 3-4 (or even later) 65?

    Thanks for posting your data.

Or 3.9 wheels earlier than 1/65? As the C2 were supposed to have...
BTW, my 5/65 wheel I was told came off of a 912...but I couldn't guarantee if they were original as the car is long gone.

What we have now is 1/65 3.7 and 3/65 3.9....
Maybe getting closer to an overlap.

Jim your wheel collection did help, your 3/65 is the earliest 3.9 so far!
    Thanks for posting.

I don't think this helps much but will add to the data pile. My '65 SC has 3.7 11/64.

all input around say 1 - 3 65 helps. So far it seems that the change was 2 or 3 65, the exceptions (like early C2 wheels if they exist) will be interesting to find.

I'm 99.99% sure the wheels on my 911 are it's original wheels but all I know about the two "extra" wheels is that I got them at a Pomona Swap Meet before 2000.

Why did I think Adam would have something interesting?......
That is the elusive C2 wheel that I referred to.
    Interesting part number 901 361 013 X1
    The standard 356 part number (3.7) is 901 361 013 X0
    The 911 part number (3.9) is 911 361 013 X2
I wonder if there are any physical differences between the C2 wheel and the 911 wheel.....offset? etc...
Many other "race" parts changed their part number when they were changed to a production part.
